Hiring Electric Vehicles

Following an increase in fuel poverty and a lack of appropriate public transport in the area, the need for alternative modes of transport is also increasing

Y Dref Werdd owns a number of electric vehicles that are regularly used to take individuals and groups to our social sessions, such as Dod Nol At Dy Goed, and are used by other community ventures in the area. The cars are used to collect Llafar Bro from the printers, to take people to appointments, and to collect food for the community from 'Fareshare'.

In addition to this, they are available for the public to hire!

One car is located at Blaenau Ffestiniog, and the other at Penrhyndeudraeth, and can be hired by the hour or day.

You will recieve the car fully charged, and be told where to collect the keys. The only thing that is needed to hire the car is a valid driving license and appropriate insurance!

For personal use, hiring a car costs £5.50 for an hour, £10 for half a day, and £20 for a full day.

For business use, hiring a car costs £6.00 for an hour, £12.50 for half a day, and £26.50 for a full day.

Community Driver

Thanks to a partnership with Siop Griffiths, Ynni Llyn, and Phartneriaeth Ogwen, and financing from the Shared Prosperity Fund, we have a Community Driver for Y Dref Werdd. The community driver project hopes to relieve some of the travelling difficulties that the most fragile of our community faces in a way that will also be sustainable for the environment.

Our driver will enable us to offer transport to those who cannot get to where they need on their own. This could include offering transport to medical appointments, e.g. to hospitals, surgeries, dentists, or take those who really need it to collect their food shopping. We will also be able to support vulnerable adults or those with disabilities to attend social activities, workshops and trips, as well as offering transport to local schools to educational or sports activities. The project will be offered to those in the Blaenau Ffestiniog or Penrhyndeudraeth area.
